A writing workshop in the mountains

Dear readers,

I wanted to share that I will be conducting a workshop on short-form writing at a beautiful homestay called, ‘Slow Garden’, in Leh, India from the 20th to the 25th of September. The workshop is really a retreat where participants also get to absorb the culture of Leh, with curated experiences from visits to the monastery, picnics by the Indus river, Ladakhi cooking classes and so much more.

Slow Garden is a charming old home, renovated with all the modern comforts while retaining its Ladakhi character. Surrounded by apple and apricot orchards (which are all in season by the way), Slow Garden promises all the serenity one needs to write and revive themselves.

Anyone with an interest in writing is welcome to join this workshop (you don’t necessarily need to be a writer). In four structured sessions, we will read, observe, edit, experiment and share our work with each other to gain a better understanding of ourselves as writers. We will attempt to navigate the vagaries of writing and sharing one’s work online while staying true to our voice. In a dopamine-heavy culture of sharing and producing work online, this workshop is an attempt at slowing down and delving into the very essence of our writing and what motivates us. At the end of the workshop participants put together a zine of their work and experiences at Slow Garden.

Registrations started yesterday and there are very few spots still available so if you’re interested, please email: slowgardenladakh@gmail.com at the earliest.

You can also find more information here.

I do hope I get to meet some of my Medium readers there. :)

Warmly,

Meera (Jasminedays)
